This is a big milestone for the Seneca-Cayuga Nation and the surrounding community. Reflecting on the ribbon cutting marking the occasion, Chief Charlie Diebold said that “I am proud of all the people who have made this project possible. It takes an entire community working together to build something like this that is important for our future.”
Stop by and meet the staff, get some groceries, and enjoy a hot meal while you fuel up. You can find the store on Highway 10, across from Grand Lake Casino. Hours are 6:00 am – 10:00 pm, seven days a week.
Flint Fire Mercantile is led by General Manager Jaimee Shaul and Assistant Manager Whitney Allerton. Jaimee lives on Grand Lake and has worked in c-stores around the area for the last twenty years. Her vision for Flint Fire Mercantile is a "one-stop shop for convenience items, but also basic grocery staples, local meat, and great ready-to-eat food."
Flint Fire Mercantile will also have gifts, novelties, houseplants, and some basic camping and RV supplies like firewood, propane, bait, and tackle. And of course, fuel for your car.
A centerpiece of the product line is beef from Flint Fire Ranch. By selling from the Tribe's other business, the mercantile helps build an ecosystem of economic development that provides jobs, increases access to fresh food, and brings resources to the Seneca-Cayuga Nation. There's also an extensive line of sodas and coffee, as well as nugget ice for those of you who take your ice seriously.
Flint Fire Mercantile also has a full deli and grill. The ready-to-eat food focuses on fresh, made-in-house options: pizza, burgers, fried chicken, and sandwiches. You can get a great meal while you fuel up and stock up for home-cooked meals.
We are thankful for all the work so many people have put in to make Flint Fire Mercantile possible. From planning to construction, ordering inventory, writing policy manuals, applying for licenses, hiring staff, developing menus, finding vendors, and hundreds of other details that must be in place before the doors open this journey has been a true community effort.
We're excited about the future of Flint Fire Mercantile and all the other Seneca-Cayuga Nation enterprises. Stop by soon and say hello while you shop in support of our community.
